Welcome to the hiatus report – august 3rd , 2015

Ok – while we are still technically on our hiatus (“on hiatus and loving it!”), we had to plug the upcoming bird walks and the epic slide show next week. The funny thing about being on hiatus is that I have been taking a lot less pictures and have really been enjoying not watching thru a camera. The result of course is a lot of pictures of mushrooms and little other visual documentation of stuff. Mental documentation for sure. Anyway.

Funky Tweeters – Bird stuff – so the bird walks have been fun (here we go plugging our activities again!) the first week we had a bald eagle and a grey catbird sit like forever (not together) for some sweet scope views, three whimbrels (state beach) week two, baby Tree Swallow and the longest view of well lit purple finch the next, and then last week we saw two young Nelson’s Sharp-tailed Sparrows, Wilson’s Storm Petrels, and Gannets and a deer swimming! And so much more. It’s been pretty sweet. Bald Eagles on each trip, plus lots of Lesser Yellowlegs. We have seen the arrival and dominance of Cedar Waxwings, and a redstart feeding its young at lane’s island. Common terns with young, and Eastern Kingbirds at Folly Pond for most of July. It’s been sweet. Can’t wait to see what we find next time!

what a great summer. see you out there!
